Have you been to the museum?

Have you been to the museum?

After more than 20 years, I could hardly recall any visits to the museums in Singapore. Other than those school trips with my kids, I have never personally spend time exploring the museums. But soon I will. If you like what you’re going to read below, continue reading and you might find something you can [...]

No Degree No Monie?

Reality sucks! About slightly more than a year ago, I was jobless and was out searching for a dream job. I looked at every job listed on all the job listing sites and newspaper. 99% of those I want to try for needs at least a Degree in the respective field of work. Why is it so important to have that piece of paper? Shouldn’t experience and work attitude be more important?

I am not saying I’m the most excellent employee any boss can have, but at least I’m always committed to my job. When I take up an offer, I go all out for the company and my team. My direct officers always enjoy working with me and gives good testimonial about my positive attitude.

When I was teaching, everyone in school knew how much time and effort I spent on my duties. Many times I went beyond my responsibilities and helped those who came to me for help. Although I was only a beginning teacher in that first year, I felt like I’d worked there for many years already. I thought I could stay in education forever and contribute my passion and small knowledge to those who needs.

But sadly, I was being back stabbed. By the very person whom I’d trusted and “slaved” for from the beginning of my teaching career. It was a painful farewell, and looking back now, I feel very silly to have believed in her when everyone around me was telling me I had to be very careful with this woman. But I still sympathizes with her life. Wonder if she’s still alone after so many years.

In Transition

It has been a mind boggling period for me. For the past one month, too many things clouded my mind. It was like standing on the top of a hill and unsure of whether to climb down from the left, right, front or just fall backwards down the hill. The direction that I’m going to take determines quite a lot of what will happen to me in the months and maybe even years to come. It wasn’t as easy as I thought. [Photo taken in 2005 at Paragon]

For the past few experiences I had, deciding on the direction to take was almost clear cut. Usually there will either be a guide showing me the way, or there will be directional sign on the hill. But this time, there wasn’t any of these, and the cause the hill is too high, the road down was blurred by the clouds below my feet. No matter how strong the wind blows, the cloud simply refused to clear.

I know I had to pick a way down this hill. And because I was the one who had chosen it, I have to continue the journey no matter how many rocks or stones that come in my way. I just hope that there will not be too huge a rock that totally blocks my journey down and forces me to climb back up the same hill again.

If you’re one of the few who understands what I am describing, wish me luck. If you don’t and happened to read this, wish me luck too. I need plenty of luck for my journey down this hill and hopefully up an even higher hill.

Preparing to start on my journey down soon… and this is almost how I feel now…

Singapore Fireworks Festival - Korean Fantasia (HD Video)

We went back!! After watching the amazing fireworks from last night over and over again on HD, I told myself I MUST catch the Korean display! And it was even better than the previous! The fireworks were exploding non-stop and there were more variations than the French team.

These videos didn’t come easy! Throughout the wait, we were under drizzling rain. And half way into the show, the rain drops got even bigger and more frequent! As if it was timed, the rain started to fall immediately after the display ended! By the time we got out of the human jam from Esplanade to Marina Square, we were wet all over!

Here are the videos of Singapore Fireworks Festival 2008 | Korean Fantasia! Hope you’ll enjoy it! This time round my arms were shaking quite a lot. I had to hold the video camera even higher as I was closer to the crowd and the fireworks. Hope you won’t feel too giddy due to the shaking clips!

Watch Singapore Fireworks Festival on HD!

It was a hair-pulling night! We almost missed the fireworks display at the Esplanade lah! Because there were just too many cars everywhere! And the jam was crazy! I was giving up hope already when we were driving around City Hall > Raffles Place > Marina Bay and back to City Hall again at 8.30pm! As reflected on the programme, the fireworks was to start at 9pm! I would have been very very upset if I miss this one!

Finally we decide to try The Adelpi carpark and thank goodness there wasn’t any cars in line! (We should have gone there right at the beginning loh!! Silly us!) We dashed through rain (tiny drizzles only lah!) and dashed across the streets, across the Padang and under the bridge to reach the back of Esplanade. Many people were already crowding around and the air wasn’t moving much! *hot hot hot!!*

Good thing the sky was clear after the rain. Everyone waited for 9pm to come… but the fireworks only started at about 9.30pm lah! We freaking wasted our “gan cheong” energy for nothing loh! But it was worth it lah! The display was good and I managed to capture the entire show on HD video! ^_^

If you’d missed the show, there’s one more on Saturday night! Sadly I won’t be able to make it for this one, unless I cheong from Yishun after the birthday party! Hmm… maybe still can make it leh! Will see how tomorrow.

Enjoy the beautiful fireworks!
